Here are some picy’s of me and a mate Ross Hewitt Skiing the north east face of the Aiguille Du L’Amone.
This was the best days skiing I have ever had. Fact. I’m not sure why its Fact but it was damn good.
My favourite thing about this descent is that you have very little idea of the exposure of the top pitch when you strap in. Had we climbed the face first we would have realised how big the cliff under the first pitch is. However, we came up from the other side (argentiere basin).
For this you need to: Climb the south coulior of the breche du L’Amone; traverse the knife edge ridge to the summit (Fun); strap it on for the 700m face; pow to slush over the bergshrund; long trudge down to La Fouily in Switzerland; three buses and a train to Vallorcine and 1 hitch with a absolutely mad Russian man who was drifting round the hairpins back to Cham….eek!
So there you have it. Highly recommended ski tour covering some great terrain. Keep posted for a Video and more adventures.
